Job description

As an Ariba Sourcing consultant, you will be responsible for leading Ariba Source to Contract Implementation Projects, either on your own, for small scale projects, or as a work stream lead working as part of a larger team under the guidance of a solution lead and or project manager. 

  

In this role you will lead workshops, helping the customer to define their requirements by proposing best practices for Ariba “Upstream”, covering Sourcing, Contract management and Supplier Information and Performance Management (SIPM). You will be required to document to a very high standard all requirements gathered and detail the applicable business processes. In addition you will be required to configure the application to meet with the requirements defined. 

  

You should be able to demonstrate that you have worked as a consultant responsible for delivering at least two previous implementations of Ariba Upstream. Some understanding of the configuration and more technical features of Ariba Upstream is important when helping to guide the customer in their decisions. 

  

You will be expected to be a solution specialist for Ariba Upstream Sourcing and will also be required to assist in the pre-sales process when not actively involved in Project work. 

  

Job requirements

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • As an Ariba Upstream Consultant you will be responsible for delivering in all areas of the implementation lifecycle. From pre-sales, through to requirements gathering, blueprinting, realisation, testing, training and the eventual support and adoption of the platform. 

  • As an Ariba Upstream Consultant you will often be responsible for a specific workstream within a larger implementation project, effective collaboration and knowledge sharing with other members of the Consulting team is therefore an important requirement. 

  • As an Ariba Upstream Consultant you will work very closely with the Customer, as such, excellent interpersonal skills are a must have. 

  • You will have a good understanding of the Procurement and Strategic Sourcing Processes and the business application of Sourcing software. This is critical to understanding the Customer’s business requirements and applying them to the solution in the most effective way. 

  • You will have good knowledge of Ariba Upstream solutions and how they interact with customer processes to drive value. 

  • You'll thrive in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, including developers, technologists, project managers, the executive team and clients. 

  

Key Skills and Accountability: 

  

The Ariba Upstream Consultant has responsibility for delivering top quality implementations, meeting and exceeding the expectations of our customers and adhering to the company vision. You will be expected to: 

  

  • Lead workshops, effectively and efficiently gathering the customer’s business requirements 

  • Share best practice approaches with customers and guide them in their decisions during the requirements gathering and design phases 

  • Produce top quality documentation, including but not limited to: 

  • Workshop slides 

  • Business process design documents 

  • Blueprint Documents 

  • Business Requirements documents 

  • Configuration documents 

  • Functional specifications 

  • Unit, System/Integration and User Acceptance Test Cases and Scripts 

  • Training Materials 

  • Undertake simple configuration in the Sourcing application 

  • Work with developers to ensure that more technical developments are understood and thoroughly tested. 

  • Engage in unit and system/integration testing 

  • Support all aspects of UAT 

  • Demonstrate all aspects of the Sourcing solution clearly and effectively 

  • Ensure that your work is carried out on time and to budget 

  • Conduct end user training sessions 

  • Assist with the handover to Production and knowledge transfer to customer and internal Support teams 

  • Work on site at customer locations in accordance with their policies and requirements 

  • Ensure suitable communication/updates are being provided to internal and external clients in a timely manner.
